Have you ever heard of the story of the boiled frog?
It goes like this … Put a frog into a pot of boiling water, and it jumps right out. But if you put it in a pot of nice comfortable water and then turn on the heat, the frog will complacently let himself be boiled. In essence, it is a story about a gradual change in circumstances or conditions that slowly get worse as time goes on and you don’t notice until it becomes intolerable. What’s this got to do with me I hear you cry! It’s got a lot to do with midlife because we’ve had so many years in the water that’s becoming hotter and hotter without us fully realising it. Life situations like …
Do you get the idea? I often use this story when I’m working with my beautiful clients particularly when they are being hard on themselves about their situation or unhappiness. It’s the gradualness that tricks us even though sometimes we know and choose not to see what's happening. Then admonishing or being hard on ourselves is a waste of our energy and never helps the situation and can keep us stuck! Being kind and compassionate to ourselves is a healing balm that can soothe the situation and when have seen what's going on you can make a different decision or make changes to get a result that you’d love instead. Are you boiling like the frog in the story in a part of your life? Would you like to make a change that you’ll feel proud of and that will last? Quickly and easily? Work with me to get unstuck and jump out of the boiling water and into peace and freedom of getting what you want in the next part of your life. Like a new fulfilling job, clarity about your relationship (stay or go), letting go of fear and worries about the future and creating powerful boundaries to give you a new level of peace and freedom.
